ANNA WEXLER  Writer, Director, Producer

Anna is a freelance writer (specializing in science and travel) and documentary filmmaker based in Tel Aviv, Israel. She holds two bachelor’s of science degrees from MIT, one in Brain and Cognitive Science and the other Humanities and Science with a focus in Writing. Anna was selected as a 2007-2008 WGBH Filmmaker-in-residence to work on Unorthodox. Her writing has been published in numerous magazines, books, and online outlets; most recently, her piece about accidentally becoming the President of the Jury at the World Testicle Cooking Championshiop was anthologized in Best Women’s Travel Writing 2011. NADJA OERTELT  Director of Photography, Director, Producer

Nadja is a scientist and currently conducts ethnographic research as a consultant in London. She has studied visual arts, film, neuroscience, archaeology and anthropology.  Nadja directed and produced short documentaries for VBS (Vice) and published research in Nature Neuroscience and PNAS as a neuroscientist at MIT and Harvard.  She has conducted archaeological fieldwork in South Africa and investigated the evolution of primates at UCL, and is finishing an MSc in Paleoanthropology.  Nadja received a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience with a concentration in Visual Arts at MIT in June 2008.

 

SHIRA KATZ Associate Producer

Shira is an actress, teacher, and certified massage therapist based in Jerusalem, Israel. She has over a decade of experience performing and teaching improvisational theater, and prior to her move to Israel in 2005 she spent seven years performing with one of Baltimore and DC’s most popular improv groups. Shira is currently a regular performing troupe member with Israel’s only professional English speaking theater company, and has starred in plays such as Fat Pig, The Miracle Worker and God. She has appeared on popular Israeli television (including the hit show Srugim) and sings with Kolture Shock, a Jerusalem-based a cappella group. She is excited to join this unorthodox team.
